Susan Anita Spadea

Susan A. Spadea, 85, of Glen Mills, PA passed away at home on May 18, 2017.

Susan, daughter of Angelina Rose (nee Mancuso) and Frank Repice, was born on January 4, 1932, and grew up in South Philadelphia. Susan completed a 4 year program at Bok Vocational School, majoring in Home Economics.  Her work experience included employment with Whitman Chocolates, Bond Bread, and Giuffre Medical Center, from where after many years, she retired from Housekeeping at the age of 65.

Widow of Joseph Spadea, she was also predeceased by her devoted son, Michael Spadea; sister, Rose Repice; brothers, Tony Repice (Louise), Joe Repice, Mario Repice(Gladys), Jim Repice and Leo Repice (Suzanne); and cousins  who were like siblings, Sam DeVito(Jean), Dominic DeVito, Rose Arabia(Don), Mildred Verelli (Sam), and Rose Sama(Frank). Survived by her daughter, Angela Frattarelli (Dan); son, Gregory Spadea (Regina); and her three grandchildren, Victoria Frattarelli, Marc Frattarelli, and Sabrina Frattarelli; and her sister, Mary Capra (Joseph); and brothers, Dominic Repice (Mildred), and Ernest Repice (Angela); and cousins who were like siblings, Annette Shikitino(Anthony), Vincent Screnci (Regina), and Rita Stiles(David).

Susan was an excellent cook, and loved when her family came together around her table to eat.  She sang in the Choir at St. Madeline’s Church with her son Michael when she resided in Woodlyn, PA.  Her dogs Doc and Fluffy were her constant companions, and they brought her much happiness.  Susan’s crown jewels were her three grandchildren.  She was a loving Grandmother, and they adored her.

Relatives and friends are invited to Susan’s Funeral on Friday, May 26, 2017 at St. Madeline’s Church, 400 Morton Avenue, Ridley Park, PA.  Visitation is from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am.  Interment: SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Jude Research Hospital; 501 St. Jude Place; Memphis, TN 38105; or St. Madeline’s Church; 400 Morton Avenue; Ridley Park, PA 19078 or Blood Donation to the American Red Cross(www.redcross.org/give.blood).

The Brandywine Valley Funeral Care has been entrusted with arrangements.
