It is with great sadness that the family of Edward J. Stewart announces his passing on July 2, 2017, from a prolonged illness. Edward was born on August 7, 1943. Edward is predeceased by his parents, Clinton Harvey Stewart and Margaret M. (nee Scully) Stewart and brother Clinton Harvey Jr.
Edward was born in Wilmington, Delaware. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963. He was retired from the DuPont Company and worked there for more than 25 years, retiring from the Maintenance Department at the Barley Mill site.
Ed was a son, brother, father, grandfather and uncle. He will be remembered for his love of baseball, bowling and playing cards.
He is survived by his sisters, Margaret (Peggy) Greenplate, Janet Angeline, brothers, Hugh and Gary Stewart, daughters, Elena McAllister and Elisa Stewart (Tammy Banjany), five grandchildren, John, Colin, Daniel, Hayden and Ethan, and multiple nieces and nephews and friends near and far. He will be missed and remembered fondly.
A Memorial Mass will be offered at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at St. Helena’s Catholic Church, 602 Philadelphia Pike, Bellefonte, Wilmington, Delaware. Burial will be private.
