Edith Lloyd Kimsey, age 94, of Wilmington, DE passed away January 11, 2018 at Compassionate Care Hospice, St. Francis Hospital.
Edith Lloyd Kimsey was born in a row house in northern Delaware in the summer of 1923.
Edith grew up in Marcus Hook, PA before her mother passed away. After her mother’s passing, Edith moved in with her Aunt and Uncle in Denton, MD and then with her sister, Lillian Wright in Chester, PA. While living with Lillian, Edith became a big sister to her nieces, Dorothy and Louise.
Edith enjoyed life and people. From her mid fifty’s to early seventies she worked part time in the nursery at Holiday Lanes Bowling Alley. Over the years, she was known as Ms. Edie and to this day grown adults remember her from when she cared for them as toddlers in the nursery.
Mrs. Kimsey was a member of the Eastern Star Lodge in Chester, PA. She will be greatly missed by her dear friends of nearly 30 years, John, Iris and Ruth.
Edith was predeceased by her husband, Donald F. Kimsey, who passed away in 1988; and her parents; her sister, Lillian; and her brother, Howard Lloyd.
She is survived by two sons, Rick Peterson and Donald L. Kimsey (Joyce); and her daughter, Donna (Willard) Meck; her 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 am on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Brandywine Valley Funeral Care, 412 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE 19809. The Viewing hour will begin at 10 am at the funeral home. Burial Service will immediately follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, Linwood, PA.
