Harvey W. Webb, Jr. passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones, on August 14, 2021, at the age of 86.

Born in Wilmington, Delaware, Harvey was the son of the late Harvey W. Webb, Sr. and Evelyn Zirkle Webb. He graduated from Alexis I. du Pont High School. Harvey had a strong work ethic and ambition, he went to work and retired from PNC (formerly Equitable Security and Bank of Delaware). He was an amazing brother, husband, father, pop-pop, and gg pop. He was an extremely loving man who enjoyed spending time with his late wife, Shirley, and every one of his family members and friends. He loved all Philadelphia sports teams but especially enjoyed the Philadelphia Eagles and Philadelphia Phillies. Harvey spent many years of his life playing softball for Equitable Security and then Bank of Delaware League.

Harvey was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Shirley Ragan Webb and his oldest granddaughter, Amy Cooper Hughes. He is survived by his sister, Sandy Salem; his children, Patricia Bayalis (Tom), Lawrence Webb (Mary Broome), Lisa O’Neal, Debra Patterson, Harvey W. Webb III (Kelly); his grandchildren, Michael O., Tracy, Joseph, Kelly, Laura, Jennifer, Shelley, Kimberly, Margaret, Harvey Webb IV, Michael W.; and his great-grandchildren, Holly, Emma, Aubrey, Logan, Penelope, Zoey, Amelia, Riley and Kora. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank the Christiana Home Health Care and Helen Graham Center for their support and guidance over the past several years.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 from 2pm to 3pm at Brandywine Valley Funeral Care, 412 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE 19809, followed by a Memorial Service at 3pm. Interment will be private.

  5. I worked with Harvey back in the early 70’s at the then Bank of Delaware. I have fond memories of his wit and his genuine caring nature. Sending prayers to Harvey’s family. Rest in peace Harvey.

  6. Harvey was the original “Big Guy”. I enjoyed the days working with him at Northtowne and other branches at PNC and previously Bank of Delaware. He never failed to make me laugh or smile. The Big Guy had many customers that valued his expertise and he gave them unmatched service. RIP Big Guy , I will always think of you for the rest of my life,

  9. I enjoyed working with Harvey when I was assigned to the Merchandise Mart in my initial weeks of the Management Training program at Bank of Delaware. He helped ease my nerves with his kindness and humor. George and I send our regards to his family and friends.

  10. So sorry to hear this news and my condolence’s to his family. I knew Harvey well as a customer when he worked at the Newark branch of Bank of Delaware. He was a gentle giant who always made you laugh. The memory I will never forget was when we completed the paperwork for my car loan on a ball field while he was in uniform. He was that dedicated to his customers. Rest in peace Harvey.

  12. My condolences to the the family. For years Harvey volunteered to help count The Salvation Army Christmas kettle money. He was a joy to work with and always had a story to tell. He will be remembered for many years and truly missed.

  14. I worked with Harvey at Bank of Delaware and part time at Brooks Armored Car for many years. I also played softball with Harvey. No one had more enjoyment in life than Harvey. Always had that big smile and made working enjoyable. I am so sad to hear of his passing and my heart goes out to his family. Rest In Peace big guy. You will be missed.
