Marjorie Louise “Peggy” Nichols

Age 95, a life-long resident of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away after a brief stay in AccentCare Hospice on July 5, 2026.

She was born in the small town of Hyde Park in western Pennsylvania to Andrew E. and Mina Mae Ednie and graduated from Leachburg High School class of ‘49.

While working in the statistics department at Penn State University she met her future Husband, James Randall Nichols, whom she married October 1954 sharing 57 wonderful years together before he predeceased her in 2011.

She was a very active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church assisting with the Altar Guild and robing the various choirs and confirmation groups. She enjoyed singing with the Church Choir. She was also a Life member of the Talleyville Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and a Life Member of the Brandywiners Ltd. Where she enjoyed working backstage with the Costume Committee.

Peggy was predeceased by husband James Randall Nichols and daughter Karen Elizabeth Johnson.

Peggy will be dearly missed by her two sons, James Andrew and John Kristen; son-in-law Rick Johnson; granddaughter Kristina Eleanor Castillo and husband Tony; grandson Andrew Earnest Johnson; brother-in-law Courtland Geoffrey Nichols and his wife Sylvia of Hollister California; and many other family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 501 Duncan Road, Wilmington, DE 19809 on August 15 2026 at 11:00 am with visitation at 10:00 am.
