Anne Remley Harris

Anne “Annie” Remley Harris, 72, passed away on August 19, 2026.

Annie had an eye for beauty and a style all her own.  She loved gardening and fashion and was a collector of unique art and decor.  She had a special appreciation for things with character and made the spaces around her a reflection of her creativity and individuality.

Animals and pets were a huge part of Annie’s life.  Her love for animals became a lifelong passion and led her to create Annie’s Menagerie, a traveling petting zoo.  For more than two decades, Annie shared her animals with people of all ages, creating memories and helping others experience the joy and wonder she found in her pets.

Annie had a generous spirit and especially enjoyed helping those in need.  She had a way of making people feel seen, cared for, and special, and believed in paying kindness forward whenever she could.

Annie held a special place in her heart for her children and grandchildren.  She loved her daughter, Elizabeth, and her son, Maxwell, and was always proud of the people they were.  Her grandchildren, Henry and Margot, brought her tremendous joy, and she cherished the time she spent with them.

Annie shared over 16 years of her life with her life partner, Russ Hartzell, who devoted himself to making sure Annie was happy, cared for, and always had what she needed.

She is lovingly remembered by her life partner, Russ Hartzell, her daughter, Elizabeth Harris; and her son, Maxwell Harris, his wife, Stephanie, and their children, Henry and Margot.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 29, at 11:30 at Walter’s Steakhouse in Wilmington, Delaware.  Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate Annie’s life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Annie’s memory to The Arc of Delaware or World Wildlife Fund, reflecting her generous spirit and lifelong love of animals.
