David Jay Case

David Jay Case, 80, of Wilmington passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday May 12th, 2026 with his wife, Lorraine, by his side. He was born in Philadelphia, PA to Marcius and Jeanne ( Leopold ) Case. He had one sister, Marcia (Case) Thuston.

David attended Syracuse University and later graduated from the University of Delaware where he met his wife, Lorraine. The two were married in Delmar in 1968 and shared many wonderful adventures and experiences during their 57 years of marriage including building a stone house in Wisconsin, touring Europe on motorcycles, and traveling to 49 states together in their custom van. David is survived by his wife, Lorraine, as well as his two sons and their families: Ryan and wife Lisa, granddaughter Zoe, grandson Tayton; and Brandon and wife, Kerry, granddaughter Sadie, and grandson Max. He was their “Grandpa”.

David was an introspective, analytical, and pensive man of few words. He found enjoyment in travel, nature, and outdoor activities. David especially enjoyed wilderness canoeing with friends in Maine, family camping, and kayaking. Building the layouts for his Lionel train collection gave him many hours of pleasure. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, creativity, and love for his family. A private celebration of life will be held in the coming months. The family suggests a donation to your favorite charity in lieu of flowers.
